ICMR study finds one in four tribal adults in Odisha has impaired kidney function

An ICMR-NIHR study of 19,703 tribal adults in Odisha found that 24.8% have impaired kidney function, ET HealthWorld reported on 25 October 2026. The study covered 53 tribal communities across 14 districts and was published in the October 2026 issue of the Indian Journal of Medical Research. Risk rises with age, tobacco and alcohol use, hypertension and diabetes.
