How many companies are incorporated in India each month?

History

These are QwikFilings' monthly counts from MCA data, and June (11,021) is left out because QwikFilings itself calls it the lowest print in its series. Probe42 counts more for the same months, for example 21,859 for May against QwikFilings' 18,877, so a different definition could put the monthly figure higher.

How we got this number

1. Open QwikFilings' monthly page for the latest month. It says its figures come from Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) data and gives one line with companies and LLPs: for July 2026, 17,001 companies and 8,864 LLPs.
2. Read the same line on the earlier monthly pages to build the series: February 20,417, March 17,427, April 18,596, May 18,877 and June 11,021 companies.
3. Check against a second counter. Probe42's May 2026 newsletter gives 21,859 companies and 9,216 LLPs for May, against QwikFilings' 18,877 companies and 8,940 LLPs. The two disagree for the same month, so both are shown.
4. Report the latest QwikFilings month (17,001 for July 2026) as the number and the February to July spread as the range.

What this number does not tell you

• Neither counter is the MCA. QwikFilings says it is a private consultancy and not affiliated with any government body; the MCA's own monthly bulletin page refused our request, so we could not read it. Treat the figures as MCA data reported by a third party.
• The same month gives different counts: May 2026 is 18,877 companies on QwikFilings and 21,859 on Probe42. We could not find how either counts (which company classes, which filing date), so the gap is not explained.
• June 2026 (11,021 companies) looks incomplete or unusual. QwikFilings calls its 15,757 total the lowest monthly print in its 18-month series, so do not read it as a real fall without the next release.
• These are companies incorporated in the month. They are not companies that are active, still filing or still trading, and LLPs are not companies.
• The class breakdown on QwikFilings' July page adds to slightly less than its company total, so small differences are possible between its own tables.
• We could not find a QwikFilings page for August or September 2026 when checking on 30 October 2026, so July is the latest month we can show.
• The Probe42 pages we read do not name the MCA for the May figure; an earlier Probe42 edition says its counts are of entities incorporated with the MCA, and that count includes LLPs.

On QwikFilings' count of MCA data, between 17,001 (July 2026) and 20,417 (February 2026) in the first seven months of 2026, with June at 11,021. Probe42 counted 21,859 for May 2026.

How many LLPs are registered each month?

8,864 in July 2026 (QwikFilings, from MCA data). Probe42 gave 9,216 for May 2026.

Why do two sources give different numbers for the same month?

For May 2026, QwikFilings has 18,877 companies and Probe42 has 21,859. Neither publishes enough on its counting rules for us to say why, so we show both.
