Free survey and form builder that writes every answer into a Google Sheet
Google Forms is the right first survey tool for almost every Indian product team: free, shareable on WhatsApp, works on any phone, and every response lands in a Sheet you can analyse immediately. It has no logic beyond simple branching, no templates for NPS or research panels, and the forms look like Google. When you need skip logic, quotas, a branded experience or in-product delivery, move to Typeform, Tally or SurveySparrow; until then, do not pay.

Google Forms is Google's form and survey builder. You add questions (short answer, multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdown, linear scale, grid, file upload, date and time), share a link or embed the form, and responses collect in the form's summary view and in a linked Google Sheet. It is free with a personal Google account and included in every Google Workspace plan with company branding and admin controls.
For product research it covers the basics: a post-signup survey, a feature-interest poll, a churn reason form, an NPS question with a follow-up. Section-based branching ('go to section based on answer') gives simple skip logic. What it lacks is conditional logic within a page, piping answers into later questions, quotas, and anything that looks like your brand rather than Google's.
Quick facts: Free with a Google account · In every Workspace plan · Responses to Google Sheets · Section-based branching · File upload with Drive · Works in low-bandwidth browsers.
Short and long answer, multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdown, linear scale, multiple-choice grid, date, time and file upload.
Every submission appends a row to a linked Google Sheet, with timestamps, ready for pivot tables or Looker Studio.
Send respondents to different sections based on an answer; enough for a two-path survey.
Response validation (number ranges, regex), required questions, and quiz mode with scoring.
A short link for WhatsApp, an embed for your site, and pre-filled links to tag a cohort or source.
Restrict to your domain, collect verified emails, limit to one response, and set data-region and retention policies as an admin.
Forms itself is free. The Workspace prices below are what a company pays per user per month to get Forms with a company domain, admin controls and the rest of the suite, as shown on Google's India pricing page.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Google Forms, personal account | ₹0 | All question types, Sheets link, unlimited forms and responses within Drive storage |
| Workspace Base | ₹99 per user / month (₹49.50 from 4 Nov 2026 to 4 Feb 2027) | Forms included with the suite; annual commitment |
| Workspace Starter | ₹270 per user / month | Forms plus Gmail on your domain, 30 GB storage, Meet; annual commitment |
| Workspace Standard | ₹1,080 per user / month (₹864 introductory for the first 20 users for 12 months) | More storage, recording in Meet, shared drives |

In the order a small team would do them.
Start in Google Sheets → Tools → Create a new form so responses are linked from the first submission.
Completion drops sharply after that on a phone; one open question at the end, the rest closed.
Generate a pre-filled link with a hidden 'source' question set to 'whatsapp-group-3' or 'post-signup-email' so you can split results.
It forces a Google sign-in; for public surveys of Indian consumers, leave it off and dedupe in the Sheet instead.
A pivot table by source and a simple NPS formula (promoters minus detractors) is more useful than the auto-charts.
