How much does a GPU cost per hour in India?

The low end is a government average for approved users on the IndiaAI portal. The high end is the on-demand H100 price read on Yotta's Shakti Cloud page. Prices differ by GPU model, provider, region and commitment.

How we got this number

1. Take the government's own figure: PIB's 25 March 2026 release gives the average subsidised rate, and its 30 December 2025 backgrounder gives the same ₹65.
2. Read the on-demand rupee price for one GPU on Yotta's Shakti Cloud price page on 30 October 2026. No figure comes from a blog or a comparison site.
3. Keep the two apart. ₹65 is an average for the subsidised portal; the provider prices are what anyone can read and pay without approval.
4. Use the H100 as the headline GPU and show the L40S row where the provider prints it.

What this number does not tell you

• Prices differ by GPU model, provider, region and commitment. These are on-demand prices for one GPU; monthly or longer plans, reserved capacity and bare metal are priced differently (Shakti Cloud prints separate plans for those).
• PIB says the ₹65 average applies "except for select high-end GPUs", and it prints no rate for any single model, so a high-end GPU on the portal can cost more than the average.
• The subsidised rate is offered to Indian start-ups and academia, not to everyone. PIB's figure is a government average across 14 empanelled providers, not a price list.
• The price page prints no date. The date here is the day we read it, 30 October 2026, and it can change without notice. We did not check whether GST is included.
• We could not read other providers' price pages (Jarvislabs' rupee prices load only after a switch; E2E Networks showed an anti-robot check), so one list price is shown.
