How we got this number

  1. Take AMFI's own monthly SIP figure: ₹32,490 crore collected through SIPs in September 2026.
  2. Cross-check it with AMFI's monthly note (₹32,490 crore, up 0.6% on the month and 10.7% on the year) and a news report of the same AMFI data.
  3. Build the history from AMFI's month-wise SIP table, from ₹29,361 crore in September 2025 to ₹32,490 crore in September 2026. The FY 2025-26 months add up to AMFI's own year total of ₹3,49,589 crore.

What this number does not tell you

  • This is gross money paid in through SIP instalments. It is not net of redemptions, so it is not the net inflow into mutual funds.
  • Contributing SIP accounts (10.06 crore) count accounts, not people; one investor can run several SIPs.
  • AMFI's table shows a 'Total during FY' of 1,58,108 crore for FY 2026-27, which does not match its own monthly figures (they add up to 1,90,598 crore for April to September 2026). We use the monthly figures.
