How much money flows into equity mutual funds each month?

History

Net inflow is money put into equity schemes minus money taken out (redemptions) in the month. It covers AMFI's equity category only, not hybrid funds, index funds or ETFs.

How we got this number

1. Read the 'Equity' row of the 'Monthly MF flows' table in AMFI's September 2026 monthly note: ₹38,307 crore, against ₹29,329 crore in August.
2. Check it in AMFI's scheme-wise data for September 2026: Equity Schemes took in ₹74,831.96 crore, saw ₹36,525.41 crore redeemed, for a net ₹38,306.55 crore, which rounds to ₹38,307 crore.
3. Put it next to earlier months from the same row: ₹40,450 crore in March, ₹38,440 crore in April, ₹22,908 crore in May, ₹28,973 crore in June and ₹24,697 crore in July 2026.

What this number does not tell you

• This is net flow, so a month with big redemptions can show a low number even when many people bought.
• Equity here means the equity-oriented category. Hybrid, index funds and ETFs are counted in their own rows by AMFI.
• Inflows are not returns. In September 2026 equity-fund assets fell 4.3% to ₹37.54 lakh crore as markets dropped, even with ₹38,307 crore coming in.
